A New Year, A New Start

I pretty much decluttered my life the last few months. I only do things if I really want to and I don't fee pressured to do it. One of the things that REALLY helped me do this was my new job. It's funny how simple (well, for some) it is to just make a slight career change and that slight career change can change your whole life. I did not realize how unbelievable UNHAPPY I was at my last job until I got my new one. It's busy. The last two weeks have been STRESSFUL but I survived and I'm ready for the next challenge. It's funny how small words of encouragement, thanks yous, or emails from sales rep praising your work (cc my supervisor, his supervisor, our manager and the branch manager) can really make working somewhere SO PLEASANT. Don't get me wrong, I'm not perfect. I've had plenty of constructive criticism BUT everyone is so willing to teach (which was my main draw) and is so willing to be KIND. We are a people that thrive on that kindness. Thank you Paychex for helping me find myself and find happiness. Thank you for making going to "work" not really seem like work. Thank you for making leaving my child, a little bit easier.

Bryce is also loving his position at work. He LOVES working in the Engineering Department and not being on the phones. He was even working AWFUL hours there for a couple months and was waking up EARLY on his own and didn't even seem to mind. He's a great dad to Robert and we're so lucky to have him around.

As for our little man, Mr. Roberto, he never seems to stop. Stop learning, stop playing, stop talking, stop mess making, stop amazing me. I made a concensense effort to stop posting his milestones on Facebook. It was making some feel bad and it made me feel like we were in competition on whose child could do more. It isn't a competition. These are children, they progress at different stages. I'm going to try and document today the BIG milestones he's hit in the last few months and then I will document them here as they happen. I want to remember. He's a special little boy and I want him to know when he's older that we realized this from a very young age.

I have been blessed with such an amazing child. We have known from the beginning that he was special. And not just because we're his parents. I often wonder what I did to deserve such a special little boy. He's so spiritual. People used to tell us that you could see the light of Christ in his eyes from a VERY young age. He radiates happiness. It used to worry me that I was going to lose him at a young age because he has such a special spirit. I quite worrying and started just loving. A few months back, we started to make a  better effort to going to church. It's hard. Robert is a ball full of energy and he's also not always healthy but we decided no excuses (unless he's sick). Robert has always had a fascination with "churches" and "temples" and such and points them all out to me. He know can distinguish between the two as we drive by them, but when you're two year old says to you "I go to church" when you drive by and you're not making your best effort, what does that say about you. That your child has more faith. Thank you Robert Jack for reminding me!! He also reminds us to pray. He's a great little boy and now "says" the prayer some nights as well.

He kept saying "Jesus, Jesus." in his room the other day. I asked him what he was doing and he pointed to the picture of Jesus on the wall and said, "Looking for my friend, Jesus" Um...instant tears. Little man you are amazing.

Robert THRIVES at daycare. He has friends, he loves more and he's LEARNING so much. He sang "Jingle Bells" all Christmas long. He can sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Twinkle Twinkle", ABC's (all the way thru), and "Wheels on the Bus" He just busts out in song and he even changes his tone as he sings (he does get the good singing jean from both sides of the family :)) But the one thing that really amazes me is. For about 4 months now. Right before he turned 2 he really started blossuming. He can count to 10 but he recognizes letters. Each week, he adds one or two more (just recently). There for awhile he just knew, "A", "R" (for Roarbert) and "O" but now he knows: A, C, D, E, F, H, M, O, R, S, T, W, Y, Z. I thought it was a fluke but nope, he knows them. I've start spelling out words to him. I'm not ready for this. TOO BIG!!! His daycare mommy (it's at at home daycare!!) said, in all her 15 years of doing that Robert is by far one of the most advanced.

SO what do I do with him. How do I keep him from getting bored in Kindergarten because I'm sure he'll be reading way before then. WHAT DO I DO????? People are probably going to think I'm just bragging but really. I don't know what to do with my child. I'm probably the worst parent at pushing these things. I don't at all. We hardly do "educational" things. He's just a sponge and you show him once and he remembers (not really once but you get what I'm saying).

So instead of pushing the academics and get him a tablet for Christmas, we decided to get him a strider bike. Bryce would love if he loved dirt bikes and 4 wheelers as much as he does. The kid just loves motors. Whether is a blow dryer, a vaccuum, a drill, a motorcycle or dad's "funny noise" truck (it's a diesel) or even an hairplane (airplane) he loves motors. Well......he's doing 1000 times better on this bike than we thought. We'll probably buy him a bike with pedals for this summer-he won't need the training wheels because he already can balance because of the stridder bike. Here he is on it.

My brother in law bikes. He's doing another century (100 mile) ride this summer. He said in the biking world this is what they say all their children will learn to ride a bike on. His favorite---the bumps! He doesn't fall either (his biggest "bump" a curb).

So right now. We'll encourage it and cross the bridge when we get to it. We're sad we're not in Vegas so he can't be a mentor to Annie and Emmie in their preschool class when they get to start going in a few months for early childhood education. He'd love it. He spent last week with my mom and when the little girls therapist came last week she was BLOWN away by their progress. She hadn't seen them for two weeks but really they hadn't made any progress for a while but small normal progress. My mom said the other difference was Robert. He talks so much and pronunciates most words so well that they were talking clearer and understanding more. I wish he was there for them.

I love you little man and you better believe that you truly can do ANYTHING!!

Here's some more pictures for your viewing pleasure and a couple videos.
